With their energetic performances, Blitz Union has earned a reputation over the past three years as one of Europe's most gripping and uncompromising live bands. A standing that the Czech EDM rockers have been able to underpin with two highly acclaimed EPs and, not least, their debut album "Absolution", which was euphorically acclaimed by fans and media alike. In 2023 the band from Prague/Czech Republic not only played at such prestigious summer festivals like M’era Luna or the AMPHI Festival, but also went on tour with Subway to Sally. In early 2024 they opened for “Lord of the Lost” on their European tour, which was a huge success.
Blitz Union is much more than just a band; they see themselves as the mouthpiece of their generation, while the formation works on new visions for the future in constant exchange with their global fanbase. Packed into their instantly recognizable signature sound of hard guitar riffs, poppy electro hooks, danceable atmospheric industrial beats, and of course, Mark Blitz's distinctive vocals, the four-piece formed in 2019 captures Gen Z's torn sense of life.
A mix that Mark Blitz, Schtorm, Govenor, and Shodushi combine with elaborate visuals and their futuristic stage look to create a fascinating overall concept - as Blitz Union also recently demonstrated with their successful tour supporting Subway To Sally, where the Czechs ensured consistently enthusiastic reactions as secret co-headliners.
What stands out: the catchiness of their songs immediately sticks in the ear and the unfiltered industrial rock power with which Blitz Union channels the inspirations from their unofficial, fifth band member: A mysterious figure named Mr. Blitz, who also appears repeatedly in the artwork and video clips and during live shows. "He conveys his thoughts and concepts to me, which we translate into music," says Mark Blitz. "I'm still unsure of who he is and what his goals are. He appears unexpectedly and disappears again after delivering his message", which also influenced the song "Freak Anthem", released in June 2023: A Hymn to the Cohesion and Unity of All Outsiders and Outcasts in a Conformist World. "In our own way, we are basically all freaks somehow. And we want to invite our fans to join the Blitz Union Movement," says lead singer Mark Blitz. A call that in no time has been followed by over 17k Instagram followers and nearly 60k monthly Spotify listeners.
"Every person nowadays is under pressure to be perfect. Always go with the flow and not step out of line under any circumstances. Instead of individualism, uniformity, and conformity are required. Instead of living out our true selves, we follow the masses. We want to encourage all listeners to break out of this paradigm and not be afraid to be themselves. Even if you might get looked at strangely for it. Long live the freaks!" The songs were produced by band member Schtorm, and Berlin-based producer Pascal "Palle" Martin (Stereoact, Noah Levi, Clide) is also responsible for the electronic elements on select tracks.
Blitz Union released their latest single “Blitzcoin” in March 2024, an energetic song about the current crypto hype and the thin line between getting super rich or falling for scam. The desperately awaited new album “Evolution” is scheduled for release at the beginning of 2025.
