Annet X started as a teenage YouTuber and later used her online fame to cross over to music to become the first real Czech female rapstar.
It is no small feat in a country in which rap was always associated with raw masculinity. She uses the platform to talk about personal issues associated with being a young woman in rough industry and everyday jungle in general. She became an unofficial voice of the whole net-savvy generation that has to learn how to manage their online and offline lives. No less interesting is the way she uses Czech language in the context of contemporary rap and r ́n ́b music, bending the words and sentences in a whole new rhythm. Her critically acclaimed album Až budu velká, chci být Aneta Charitonova managed to fuse her unique style with future jazz and soul and won various music awards.
